Meet our Scholarship Recipients
2026 Scholarship Recipient: Grace Mangold
"My name is Grace Mangold, and I'm a graduating senior majoring in marine science at Rider University. I have recently been accepted into the Three Seas Program, an M.S. in Marine Biology program at Northeastern University, where I plan on continuing my education. I have always held a passion for marine science. Ever since my first visit to the Scholastic Book Fair, where I picked up a book on deep-sea fish, I have been enthralled by the vastness and beauty of the ocean. As I matured, I discovered the threats that our oceans face and realized that I wanted to try to make a difference. By pursuing higher education, I hope to eventually earn my PhD so I can research the influence of anthropogenic stressors, like climate change and pollution, on the health of both large and small-scale marine ecosystems. Ideally, I would do so by working as a professor, where I would both have the opportunity to conduct research and foster the education of future marine scientists. Thanks to Captains Preferred Products, I am one step closer to reaching this dream of making a difference in the health of our oceans and in the education of future scientists."
Congrats, Grace! We can't wait to see where your studies take you!
2025 Scholarship Recipient: Maya Prunty
"My name is Maya Prunty, and my passion for marine science stems from a lifelong connection to the ocean and a strong commitment to conservation and education. I am especially interested in shark conservation, science communication, and creating outreach programs that make marine science accessible to broader communities. Through my work, I hope to bridge research, education, and policy to support ocean sustainability and inspire future generations to protect marine ecosystems. I am excited to continue building my skills and deepening my knowledge in the marine science field. I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to pursue my goals thanks to the support of Captains Preferred Products."
Congrats, Maya! We're excited to follow your journey!
